Persian rugs, as the name suggests, originated in Persia, now Iran. In Iran, weaving and dying is an art form that generations inherit from their forefathers. It is of cultural significance for the artists and passes on from generation to generation. 

The Persian rugs are made using different kinds of materials such as cotton, silk, and wool. They are available in different shades, colors, and sizes. Each Persian rug is unique in its way and speaks of a different story. Irrespective of their color and size, each Persian rug has different sets of emotions attached to it. 

Each color in a rug has its significance and speaks of a different story. 

White: It signifies Purity, Peace, and Simplicity 

Blue: It signifies Afterlife, Honesty, and Truthfulness 

Brown: It signifies Soil and Earth. Brown is the color of Fertility 

Yellow: It is a color that signifies Royalty and is associated with the Sun 

Red: This is color is associated with many emotions including joy, happiness, luck, life, etc. 

Black: This color signifies dominance and is associated with destruction. 

Green: For Persians, Green is associated with Prophet Mohammed. It is associated with renewal, wisdom, and hope.
