Abner Zook Painting: This remarkable piece commissioned by the Frey family depicts their family farm nestled on Hilltop Road in Orefield, PA. Signed and dated by Abner Zook Womelsdorf, PA , 1971. This painting has remained hidden from public view, residing in the Frey’s lower-level family room, shielded from the sun and other elements. Now, for the first time, this painting is available through public auction.

With the majority of Zook’s works already in private collections, the chance to acquire this unique piece is truly rare and precious.

At the core of the painting lies a touching moment: a gentleman, likely a father or grandfather, gently holds the hand of a young girl. This tender gesture speaks volumes, encapsulating a profound sense of closeness and connection amidst the expansive landscape. Their shared posture hints at a rich history bound to the homestead, underscoring a deep and meaningful bond between generations.

Through this painting, Abner Zook not only preserves the visual beauty of the Frey Farm but also encapsulates the essence of a disappearing way of life, inviting viewers to reflect on the passage of time and the enduring power of cherished memories. It serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving our cultural heritage and the value of connecting with our past.

More about Abner Zook:  he was raised in the Amish community, created over 800 remarkable 3-D paintings. Growing up alongside his twin brother Aaron, who was also an artist, they engaged in friendly rivalry, competing to craft the finest toys and watercolor images. This competitive spirit persisted into adulthood, manifesting in their constant quest to outdo each other in creating grander and more intricate 3-D paintings and dioramas.

Abner’s unique artistic style merges painting and sculpture seamlessly. His creations feature sculpted buildings, figures, trees, carriages, and various other elements. Utilizing materials ranging from steel wool to copper wire, even repurposed automobile repair materials, Abner’s paintings exhibit a captivating depth and perspective, evoking a lifelike ambiance.

Zook’s masterpieces are dynamic narratives, depicting scenes that narrate compelling stories. Set against the backdrop of the Amish community or the turn of the 20th century, his paintings capture the essence of everyday life – from agricultural tasks and religious gatherings to bustling train stations.
